Update 28.2 for Business Central 2026 Release Wave 1 shipped on 5 June 2026. Build numbers: Application 28.2.51034, Platform 28.0.50938. The hotfix details and on-premises download are in KB5100266.

Unlike 28.1, this update carries a meaningful set of feature changes alongside the usual hotfixes. Several reach general availability, a few enter public preview.
Sales Order Agent
Two changes land for the Sales Order Agent, both at general availability:
- Belgium and Switzerland now supported. These multilingual countries required a new optimised text search language setting so the agent’s item lookup works accurately regardless of which language your data is in. Admins can switch the full-text search language and trigger a reindex from Optimised Text Search Language Setup under Advanced Settings. This applies to any multilingual environment, including French-speaking regions of Canada. Full setup details are in the Sales Order Agent setup documentation.
- Cleaner email handling. The agent now detects and skips inline email attachments such as signature logos, tracking pixels, and embedded images, focusing only on actual order documents like PDFs and spreadsheets. As a side effect, it consumes fewer Copilot Credits per processed email.
Quality Management
Several Quality Management improvements reach general availability in this update:
- Word layouts as default. The three printable QM reports (Certificate of Analysis, Non-Conformance, and General Purpose Inspection) now ship with Word layouts as the default, with RDLC as the alternate. This follows the wider BC28 direction of Word-first layouts for base application reports.
- Print from more places. Reports can now be printed directly from the Quality Inspection card and the Quality Inspections list.
- Report Selection page easier to find. Report Selection – Quality Management is now accessible from both the Quality Manager Role Center and the Manual Setup list page.
- Demo data installer. The Quality Management Setup page gains an Install Demo Data action that pulls in the Contoso Coffee Dataset from AppSource and opens the Contoso Demo Tool. The Quality Manager Role Center checklist also activates automatically when a quality manager first signs in.
Financial Management
General availability in this update:
- Withholding tax calculation for vendors is now part of the standard feature set.
- Self-billed invoices cover scenarios where the buyer issues the invoice on behalf of the supplier.
Public preview in this update:
- Accelerated depreciation methods for fixed assets, covering declining balance and other non-linear depreciation patterns required in certain countries or preferred for specific asset categories.
Reporting and Data Analysis APIs
Three new API endpoints reach general availability:
- Analyse approval workflows for auditors and IT staff.
- Analyse permissions for auditors and IT staff.
- Get the PDF of a document report via API. Useful for integration and automation scenarios where you need the rendered PDF output rather than just the underlying data.
Electronic Documents and Country-Specific Features
Public preview:
General availability:
- Australian Payment Times Reporting bill compliance
- Payment Practices reporting for the UK localisation
Governance
- Reimplementation projects using the cloud migration tool (public preview). Aimed at customers who want to restructure their BC setup, for example consolidating companies or migrating from on-premises, without starting from a blank environment.
Sustainability
- New Sustainability APIs (general availability) for better integration with external systems for sustainability data exchange.
Good to Know: Copilot Data Movement Change Coming 1 July
From 1 July 2026, Business Central environments on version 28.0 or later in some countries and regions may process Copilot and agent requests in a different Azure geography. If cross-geography data movement is a concern for your customers, review and configure preferences on the Copilot & agent capabilities page before that date. Hotfixes
The full list is in KB5100266. Items worth calling out:
- Excel export memory (platform): Large xlsx exports were causing O(N) memory growth due to in-memory ZIP rebuilding. Replaced with a streaming approach. Relevant for any environment doing bulk data exports.
- Agent Task Message API (platform): The status transition from Reviewed to Sent was blocked incorrectly. Fixed.
- Planning Worksheet: Suggested purchase quantities could significantly exceed demand and safety stock when a Dampener Period or Rescheduling Period was configured for Lot-for-Lot items. Fixed.
- Transfer shipment posting: Failed with an error when a reservation existed against a purchase order. Fixed.
- Sales order processing: A “Sales Header does not exist” error could occur when applying default invoice discounts during field validation. Fixed.
- SMTP OAuth switch: Switching an SMTP account from Basic to OAuth 2.0 failed due to improper password key cleanup. Fixed.
- Production Journal: Reopening after posting could trigger an “Entry Type must not be changed when a quantity is reserved” error. Fixed.
- Quality Management: The Reopen button was incorrectly active on Open inspections. The “Control Information” tab has been renamed to “Source Reference”.
Update 28.2 replaces all previous updates. If you are still on 28.0, you can install 28.2 directly without going through 28.1 first.
